Director Charles Kostyk

Chief Charles (Chuck) Kostyk began his 44-year fire career with the Dexter Volunteer Fire Department in 1980 following in the steps of his grandfather, father, and brother. Through career moves, he was a member of the Granby Center Fire Department for a short time before joining the Cadyville Fire Department in Clinton County, where he has been a member for the last 39 years.  During his time with Cadyville, Kostyk served two different stints as chief, and is currently an assistant chief focusing on mentoring and educating newer officers. Kostyk has been a member of NYSAFC since 1998 and has served as sergeant-at-arms, as well as an Annual Conference Committee vice chairman.  He is a past president of the Clinton County Firefighters Association and is a recipient of the CCFA President’s Award and the Clinton County Firefighter of the Year Award.  Kostyk is also past chairman of the Clinton County Fire Advisory Board and currently serves as a delegate to the board from his department.  He has been a Clinton County deputy fire coordinator since 2017 and is assigned to the Fire Investigation Unit as a board-certified fire investigator. Kostyk has been heavily involved in the community, coaching youth sports and serving as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader.  He currently serves as a councilor and deputy supervisor for the town of Plattsburgh.  Chuck and his wife, Shari, live in Cadyville and are the proud parents of four children, as well as grandparents to eight terrific grandchildren.
