Director Kenneth M. Almy
Kenneth M. Almy was a member of the Scotia Fire Department for 33 years, serving as fire chief from 2014 until retiring in March 2022. Almy began his firefighting career in 1989, was promoted to lieutenant in 2002, and promoted to captain in 2008. He served as EMS coordinator for the department, as well as municipal training officer. Upon retiring from the Scotia Fire Department, Almy became the assistant fire/EMS coordinator for Schenectady County. In January 2024, he was appointed the Schenectady County fire coordinator. He is an active member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Career Fire Chiefs of New York State, Schenectady County Fire Advisory Board, and Glenville Town Chiefs. Almy graduated from the Zone 5 Law Enforcement Academy and was a tech sergeant with the 139th Aeromedical Evacuation Flight, New York Air National Guard. He has been a member of NYSAFC since 2014 and previously served as the regional representative for Schenectady County. Ken has been married to his wife, Deborah, since 1982. They have a son and a daughter and four grandchildren.
