Members of the association will vote on proposed changes presented by the Constitution & By-Laws Task Force at the 120th Annual Conference in Syracuse.
Members of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs Constitution & By-Laws Task Force have reviewed the association Constitution & By-Laws and presented proposed changes to the association board of directors.
The task force, consisting of past presidents, members of the board of directors, and the chief executive officer, spent several months reviewing the governing documents for consistency and cohesiveness of language, as well as alignment with the mission and operations of the association. Changes were proposed to streamline the language and to reflect the evolving mission of NYSAFC and the emergency services as a whole.
The proposed changes were accepted by the board of directors. The task force presented the proposed changes at the Fall Combined Board and Committee/Membership Meeting on November 8, 2025, in Schodack, N.Y., serving as the first reading. They were accepted by the members in attendance. The proposed changes will be read and voted on by the association members in attendance at the 120th Annual Conference General Session on June 11, 2026, 10:00 a.m., in Syracuse, N.Y.
The proposed changes can be reviewed here. The current Constitution & By-Laws is available here.
