NYSAFC Fire Investigation Training  FREE!
Wednesday, June 10
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. @ The Oncenter • Room 3

Don’t miss this free training opportunity, coordinated by the NYSAFC Fire Investigation Committee and OFPC Investigations Branch! Students can earn course credits by completing the six-hour session “Fire Investigation for the Line Officer” with Fire Protection Specialist I/Investigators Richard Daus and Chad Peters (OFPC). Training concludes with “Perils and Pitfalls of an Inadequate Fire Investigation” with Unit Supervisor/Instructor Joseph Galloway (Syracuse F.D.) and Supervisory Special Agent/Certified Fire Investigator Dixon Robin (U.S. Department of Justice, ATF).

NYSAFC Codes Training

Registration: $95 per day OR $190 for both days

This training, coordinated each year by the NYSAFC Codes Committee, provides the opportunity to earn in-service codes hours. Wednesday programs include: “National Electrical Code Changes (49-5880)” with Salvatore Ferrara (Electrical Training Center, Inc.), “2020 ECCCNYS for Commercial Buildings: Overview” with Connor Statham (Newport Ventures), and “Consumer Fireworks in New York State (49-6793)” with Lisa Lee (NYS OFPC). Thursday programs include “BCD232 – Pre-Planning and Suppression of Buildings Under Construction (49-7217)” and “Engineered Wood I-Joists: Fire Protective Assemblies and Firefighter Safety (49-7158)” with Raymond O’Brocki (American Wood Council), followed by “Significant Changes to the 2018 Fire Code – Part I: Chapter 2 (Definitions) – Chapter 9 (Fire Protection Features)” and “Significant Changes to the 2018 Fire Code – Part II: Chapter 10 (Means of Egress) – Chapter 80 (Reference Standards)” with Christopher Roth (Town of Brighton).

NYSAFC Industrial Chiefs Seminar & Luncheon  FREE!

12:00 – 2:00 p.m. @ Marriott Syracuse Downtown • Empire Room

All volunteer and career fire service personnel are invited to attend the Industrial Chiefs Seminar & Luncheon during FIRE 2020, hosted by the NYSAFC Industrial Chiefs Committee. This free seminar will include a roundtable discussion led by a panel of national industry experts and industrial fire chiefs from facilities across New York state, followed by a networking luncheon. This interactive seminar is designed to be an open forum for participants to learn more about operations at industrial facilities and how this applies to municipal fire departments responding to these facilities. Experts will discuss regulations and training requirements for the industry and how they impact the local community and response. This seminar is designed for chiefs, line officers, and command staff, as well as other fire service personnel of all ranks interested in learning more about industrial firefighting in New York state.
