Voting results on proposed changes to the NYSAFC Constitution.

A meeting of the Governance Committee took place on June 14, 2024, 11:00 a.m., during the NYSAFC 118th Annual Conference in Syracuse, NY to hold a vote on two proposed Constitution amendments.
Present were Governance Committee Chairman Richard Messina and Vice Chairman Joseph Fahd and Nominations & Elections Committee Chairman Frank Sylvester, Vice Chairman Daniel Schwertfeger, and committee members Robert Holley, Julius Leone, and John Sroka.
113 members voted. 42 individuals were ineligible to vote because either their dues were not paid 30 days prior to the vote, as required by the Constitution, or they were not Individual Members of the association.

OFFICERS
Proposed Amendment:
Section 2. The President, First Vice-President, and Second Vice-President shall be elected and installed for a one-year term at the annual meeting and will serve until a successor is elected and installed at the subsequent annual meeting. The President, at his/her discretion, could choose to run for a second term.
The vote was 75 in favor and 38 against. Therefore, the amendment failed, not attaining the three-quarter vote needed.
Proposed Amendment:
Section 8. Any active member of this Association who currently resides in the State of New York for twelve months a year, has been a member for at least five years, is a current or past member of a committee, has been a five (5) bugle chief, and, as provided for in Article V, Section 10, and Article III, Section 3, may hold office.
The vote was 89 in favor and 24 against. Therefore, the amendment passed, attaining the three-quarter vote needed. It is now in effect.
