Firefighter Risk Reduction MiniGrant Recipients Announced

The program assists PERMA and NYSAFC fire department members in obtaining equipment that will help reduce injury and illness within their agencies.

The Public Employer Risk Management Association (PERMA) and NYSAFC have selected awardees for the 2023 Firefighter Risk Reduction MiniGrant Program.

The goal of this program is to financially assist members in obtaining equipment that will help reduce injury and illness within their agencies. This year, monies were awarded to five members of both NYSAFC (Department Members) and PERMA for new gear washers and dryers, which remove carcinogens from turnout gear while maintaining gear durability.

The 2023 awardees are the North East Joint Fire District (Monroe County), Moyers Corners Volunteer Fire Department (Onondaga County), Five Mile Point Fire Company (Broome County), Henrietta Fire District (Monroe County), and Scotia Fire Department  (Schenectady County).

Since the program's inception, PERMA has provided more than $145,000 of equipment to PERMA and NYSAFC members across 32 departments. Congratulations to these fire departments! Thank you to all who took time to apply.
