Firefighter Best Practices

FREE 2.5-Hour Program
NYSAFC's Firefighter Best Practices training is a FREE 2.5-hour program to help fire chiefs and officers assure that their fire department properly addresses the Recommended Best Practices for Fire Department Training Programs guidance document issued in 2015 by the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control in collaboration with the New York State Department of Labor’s Public Employees Safety and Health (PESH) program. This training will include a brief history of the guidance document. It will review what the recommended best practices include, as well as the many factors departments should consider when developing and documenting their own training programs. Examples of how departments can address the best practices will be shared. This training will also review other relevant OSHA regulations and New York state laws, with methods that can be used to satisfy them while still providing a worthwhile training experience for department members.
