Firefighter Best Practices - A Model Program

FREE 2.5-Hour Program
The Firefighter Best Practices – A Model Program training is a FREE program to help fire chiefs and officers assure that their department properly addresses the Recommended Best Practices for Fire Department Training Programs. This guidance document was issued by the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control in collaboration with the New York State Department of Labor’s Public Employees Safety and Health (PESH) Program in January 2015. Firefighter Best Practices – A Model Program will include a brief history of the guidance document and describe the many state agencies and organizations involved in the development process. It will also review what the recommended best practices include and the factors that fire departments should consider when developing and documenting their own training programs. Examples of how fire departments can address the best practices will also be shared. In addition, the training will review other relevant OSHA regulations and New York state laws and the methods that can be used to satisfy them while still providing a worthwhile training experience for department members.
